First Sight

Sweet serene calm waters
Reflecting sunlight off its surface
Waters many have named gods after
That teach us that things are not always not what it seems
That beneath the surface a whole world flusters
Life that can only beneath the invisible curtain
Where depths seem unknown
A place where of you don’t belong
You just won’t know
Colors of immense beauty
Species of rare stature
Strangers to each other
Separated by a velvety transparency
For what appears to be tranquil on either side
Is more than appears at first sight!
